Bosnia and Herzegovina has abolished compulsory pension contributions for certain workers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including employees with another employer, temporary and occasional workers, and trainees, under new rules effective 13 August 2026.
The Federal Pension Insurance Fund has changed the rules for compulsory pension contributions for persons working under specific circumstances in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). The new rules were published in Official Gazette No. 62/26 and entered into force on 13 August 2026.
The changes abolish compulsory pension contributions for employees who also work for another employer, as well as for temporary and occasional jobs and work performed during a traineeship period.
The new Decision on the Amount of Pension and Disability Insurance Contributions for Persons Insured in Specific Circumstances in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) also sets contribution amounts for other categories, including volunteer work, practical training, mandatory labour, public functions and organised sports competitions.
The Decision replaces the previous rules published in the Official Gazette of the FBiH No. 26/14.
For circumstances where contributions remain applicable, amounts are calculated based on actual working days under Articles 17 and 18 of the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance.
