The President of Belgium’s Humanist Democratic Center (cdH) has unveiled details of the party’s plans to lower taxes for individuals and corporations.  The tax reductions would amount to around EUR10bn.

The party which is currently a member of the country’s governing coalition would undertake a fundamental reform of the country’s tax system, to ensure that it is simple, fair and efficient in the future. The cdH plans to raise the individual income tax threshold to EUR11,000 (from EUR7,070 currently). The party will also introduce tax breaks for families, for example giving tax reductions for dependants and will exempt young people from social security contributions during their first paid employment.
