SPF Finance extended the standard personal tax return deadline after MyMinfin system failures prevented taxpayers from filing by the original 15 July date, though those with specific income types get until 16 October 2026.

Belgium’s tax authorities, SPF Finance, announced on 13 July 2026 that it has extended the filing deadline for the 2026 assessment year by four days following system outages that prevented taxpayers from submitting returns through Tax-on-web.

The new date of 19 July 2026 replaces the original 15 July 2026 deadline, and the same extension applies to amended returns.

Taxpayers reporting self-employment income, foreign professional income, executive compensation, or spousal assistance payments get a later filing deadline of 16 October 2026.

The same extended date applies if anyone is reporting foreign property, overseas alimony, foreign loans, or legal constructs for the first time. Taxpayers claiming the expatriate or researcher tax regime, or those with a legal construct declared in the previous year, also benefit from this October deadline.

The MyMinfin platform experienced technical disruptions that blocked several users from completing their tax filings on schedule. Rather than enforce the original deadline, SPF Finance decided to grant four additional days to accommodate those affected by the system failures.
