Belgium’s Council of Ministers, following a proposal by Finance Minister Jan Jambon, has approved a preliminary draft law to implement EU Directive 2023/2226, which updates Directive 2011/16 on administrative cooperation in taxation.
The draft focuses on incorporating crypto asset data into the framework for the automatic exchange of information. A key element of the proposal is the introduction of a new reporting requirement for crypto asset service providers, ensuring greater transparency in this sector. Additionally, the existing administrative assistance framework will undergo several updates and adjustments to align with the new directive.
