Azerbaijan and the UK have held a second round of negotiations on a proposed income and capital gains tax treaty to strengthen bilateral economic ties and update their tax framework, which would replace the existing 1994 treaty once finalised and brought into force.
Azerbaijan and the UK held the second round of negotiations on a new income and capital gains tax treaty, according to an announcement by Azerbaijan’s State Tax Service (STS) on 3 November 2026.
Officials from both countries discussed various provisions of the draft convention, focusing on strengthening bilateral economic relations, promoting business cooperation and improving tax administration.
The proposed treaty aims to update the existing legal framework and, once finalised, signed, ratified and effective, will replace the 1994 tax treaty between the two countries.
