Japan and Armenia have agreed in principle on the new income tax treaty between the two countries. The announcement was made in a press release by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 16 October 2024.
This follows after Japan announced that tax treaty negotiations between Japan and Armenia began on 9 October 2024.
The new agreement reinforces or introduces provisions for clarifying the scope of taxation in the two countries, eliminating international double taxation and preventing tax evasion and avoidance, and is expected to promote further mutual investments and economic exchanges between the two countries.
The new convention will be signed after the necessary internal procedures have been completed by the two governments. The agreement will enter into force after the completion of the domestic procedures in each of the two countries.
