The Czech Republic has completed parliamentary approval of its 2025 income and capital tax treaty with Malta, which aims to prevent double taxation and tax evasion. The treaty now awaits presidential ratification and will replace the existing 1996 treaty once it enters into force and takes effect.
The Czech Chamber of Deputies has approved the 2025 Czech Republic–Malta Income and Capital Tax Treaty on 15 October 2026.
Following the Czech Senate’s approval on 29 July 2026, the treaty has now been approved by both chambers of the Czech Parliament.
The treaty aims to prevent double taxation and income tax evasion between the two countries.
It will be submitted to the President of the Czech Republic for ratification. Once it enters into force and takes effect, the new treaty will replace the 1996 Czech Republic–Malta Income and Capital Tax Treaty.
