Norway and Thailand signed a new income tax treaty on 15 October 2026 to eliminate double taxation, prevent tax evasion and avoidance, and strengthen bilateral trade and investment. The agreement will replace the existing 2003 treaty once it enters into force and becomes effective.
Norway and Thailand have signed a new income tax treaty during the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group in Bangkok on 15 October 2026.
The treaty aims to eliminate double taxation on income and prevent tax evasion and avoidance between the two countries. The convention also aims to align bilateral tax cooperation with international standards, reduce double taxation, and provide greater certainty for businesses and investors. It is also expected to promote trade, investment, and economic activity between the two countries.
The treaty will enter into force following the exchange of ratification instruments and, once effective, will replace the existing 2003 tax treaty between the two countries.
