Moldova has authorised negotiations on a protocol to amend its 2008 double taxation treaty with Belgium. Decree No. 639, issued on 4 June 2026, designates a formal delegation to conduct talks on modifications to the income and capital tax convention originally signed in Brussels on 4 December 2008.
Moldova has issued Decree No. 639 dated 4 June 2026, published in the Official Gazette, authorising negotiations on an amending protocol to the 2008 income and capital tax treaty with Belgium.
The original Convention between Moldova and Belgium for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital was executed in Brussels on 4 December 2008. The newly proposed protocol will modify key provisions of this longstanding agreement.
The decree enters into force upon publication in the Official Gazette of Moldova. Should any delegation member vacate their position, their replacement will assume their negotiating duties automatically.
Any resulting protocol must be finalised, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
