Chile’s Internal Revenue Service (SII) reported that 284,494 taxpayers have claimed a tax rebate for expenses regarding children’s education this year, an increase of 16% from previous year. The total amount claimed was CLP25.45bn (USD45.84m), highlighting a year-on-year increase of 178%. It notified that 40,000 taxpayers were trimmed from the tax rebate program as the combined income of the parents overstepped the threshold of CLP18.46m. One of the main goals of the tax reform bill is to increase revenue for state-funded education.
