Chilean Foreign Minister and his Paraguayan counterpart recently revived negotiations on a free zone for Paraguayan businesses stayed at the Chilean port of Antofagasta. The proposal is actually drafted in 1968 to denominate the port of Antofagasta as a free trade area could gain easier access to international markets. Foreign Minister also backed plans to promote dialogue between the Pacific Alliance i.e. a trade group including Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru and a political and economic alliance incorporating Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
