Canada's Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne will table the Spring Economic Update 2026 on 28 April, outlining plans to reduce dependence on US trade and providing updated deficit and fiscal projections.
Canada’s Minister of Finance and National Revenue announced on 15 April 2026 that he will table the Spring Economic Update 2026 on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
In the Spring Economic Update 2026, the government will provide an update on its plan to build the strongest economy in the G7, and outline additional actions taken to drive prosperity, play to Canada’s strengths, and support Canadians where and when they need it most.
Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said Tuesday that the update would support efforts to rebuild an economy that had become overly dependent on US trade for growth.
Canada presented its annual budget in November, and the update is expected to outline the size of the deficit for the fiscal year ending 31 March, as well as projections for the current year.
