NBR urges taxpayers to file their returns online, making e-filing mandatory for most resident taxpayers.

Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced a one-month extension for filing income tax returns for the 2025-26 tax year. Under a special order issued on 19 November 2025, individual taxpayers now have until 31 December 2025 to submit their returns.

The extension aims to address difficulties taxpayers face with the e-filing system. Under the new rules, online filing is mandatory for all resident Bangladeshi taxpayers, except those aged 65 or above, physically incapacitated, deceased, or non-resident citizens. Non-resident Bangladeshis can also file online if they provide their passport number, National ID, and email to NBR.

Earlier, NBR reminded taxpayers to submit their income tax returns through the electronic filing system by 30 November 2025.
