The EU finalised its 2026 budget, increasing overall funding and boosting support for key Polish priorities such as border security, transport links, cohesion policy, and rural development.

The EU Council and the European Parliament announced that negotiations on the 2026 EU budget were concluded on 15 November 2025.

The agreed budget allocates additional funding to several Polish priorities, including border security, transport connections, particularly those with military significance, and EU humanitarian assistance.

Member States also adopted a declaration supporting further increases in funding for projects that are strategically important to Poland, notably those under cohesion policy and rural development programmes.

According to the European Commission and Polish negotiators, the EU budget for 2026 will guarantee a balance between meeting existing and new challenges facing the entire EU.

“The outcome of the negotiations is significant for key expenditures from a Polish perspective, primarily cohesion policy and rural development. The adopted joint declaration on the release of payments guarantees the provision of the necessary funds from the EU budget to reimburse incurred expenditures. This will be essential as project implementation is expected to accelerate,” said Jurand Drop, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance, about the conclusion of the negotiations.

Funding will be provided primarily for operational programmes under the EU financial framework for 2021–2027.

The agreement reached will be confirmed by the EU Council and the European Parliament within the next two weeks.
