Belgium has passed legislation providing for tax relief for employers making investments in particular economic zones. The relief is a partial exemption from salary withholding tax in respect of wages paid to new employees who are taken on within thirty six months after the investment is made. The rate of the exemption is to be established by a Decree and there will be a slightly more generous relief for small enterprises than for larger entities.
