South Korea and the United States have signed a Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) agreement on 10 June 2015. This is a Model 1 Agreement. Under this reciprocal agreement, financial institutions in South Korea will report the information required under FATCA about U.S. accounts to the South Korean Government, which in turn will report the information to the IRS.
