Uzbekistan adopted the amended protocol of the CIS Mutual Assistance Agreement on 13 December 2024.

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is an intergovernmental organization that promotes cooperation among former Soviet republics. It was founded in Minsk on 8 December 1991, by Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.

The amended protocol, signed on 2  November 2018, introduces updates related to the electronic exchange of tax information. It is already in effect for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Tajikistan.

The original agreement, signed by CIS leaders, acknowledged the USSR’s collapse due to severe decline and fragmentation. At the same time, it reaffirmed the commitment to collaboration in political, economic, humanitarian, cultural, and other areas.

On 21 December 1991, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan joined the agreement. Together with Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, they signed the Declaration on the Purposes and Principles of the CIS in Almaty.
