Trump’s remarks came after Elon Musk said in a CBS interview that he was ‘disappointed’ with the bill’s massive spending, which undermines the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts to reduce the US budget deficit

US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, that he plans to negotiate certain aspects of the “big, beautiful” tax bill, after he expressed mixed feelings about some of its provisions.

He also underscored the importance of having adequate support to ensure the bill gets approved by the Senate.

The One, Big, Beautiful Bill makes the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent, provides additional tax relief for working families and small businesses, and rewards investment and manufacturing in America.

Trump’s remarks came after Elon Musk said in a CBS interview that he was ‘disappointed’ with the bill’s massive spending, which undermines the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts to reduce the US budget deficit.

Earlier, the US House of Representatives passed a massive tax and spending bill on Thursday, 22 May 2025, enacting much of Trump’s policy agenda while adding trillions to the national debt.
