Federal agencies must report their actions to the White House within 45 days. 

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Interior Department to review and adjust policies that currently favour renewable energy over other sources, and the Treasury to enforce the rollback of wind and solar tax credits as mandated by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on 7 July 2025.

Both agencies must report their actions to the White House within 45 days.

Earlier, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law by Trump on 4 July 2025, ending the tax credits for wind and solar projects under sections 45Y and 48E of the Internal Revenue Code unless they begin construction by 4 July 2026, or are operational by 31 December 2027.

The Act ends renewable energy tax credits after 2026 for projects that haven’t started construction, with a final deadline of 2027 for completion. Previously, developers could claim a 30% tax credit through 2032.The following is a fact sheet on the order:
