The US Senate Appropriations Committee passed the Fiscal Year 2025 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act on 1 August, 2024. The act provides USD 27.885 billion to fund the operations of the Department of the Treasury, the Executive Office of the President, the federal judiciary, the District of Columbia, the Small Business Administration, and more than two dozen independent federal agencies.

Concerning the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the bill provides USD 12.3 billion for the IRS 2025 budget, which would allow it to carry out responsibilities and continue its work to significantly improve customer service, update its outdated computer systems, and ensure that all taxpayers – particularly the top 1% and the largest corporations – contribute their fair share in taxes.
