The US House Appropriations Committee released the Fiscal Year 2025 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill on 3 June, 2024. It proposes terminating several programmes including funding for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
In addition, the bill defunds the United Nations (UN) regular budget, which can lead to savings of USD 761.6 million, as well as various UN organisations such as the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the UN Montreal Protocol, the UN Environment Fund, and the World Economic Forum.
Furthermore, the legislation also eliminates funding to the Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund, International Organisations and Programmes, Contribution to the Clean Technology Fund, Contributions to the Inter-American Development Bank, Green Climate Fund, Clean Technology Fund, and Loss and Damages Fund.
