The UK Prime Minister has confirmed that his party still holds the view that the inheritance tax threshold should be raised to GBP 1 million, and that this is likely to be addressed in the party’s manifesto for the next election which is to take place in May 2015. The Prime Minister noted that property prices in London have pushed the wealth of many families over the threshold. The inheritance tax threshold has not been raised in the current parliament because it is opposed by the party’s coalition partners the Liberal Democrats, but remains a possibility for any future Conservative government.
