A raft of economic reforms has been published by Ukraine including some tax measures. Government revenue is to be increased by combating direct tax evasion and tightening the value added tax system to reduce the amount of avoidance and fraud. The reforms also include plans to introduce uniform excise duties on fuel, thereby limiting the opportunities to abuse the system. Excises on alcohol and tobacco would be raised. The corporate tax rate is to be kept at 18 percent rather than decreasing as originally planned.
