The Committee stages of the Finance (No. 2) Bill 2023-24 (also known as the Spring Finance Bill) concluded on 21 May, 2024.

The bill was introduced after the conclusion of the March Spring Budget and reviewed by a Public Bill Committee where no modifications were introduced to it.

Following the election announcement, the government and the opposition agreed to expedite the remaining stages of the bill.

The report stage and third reading of the Finance (No. 2) Bill were completed in the House of Commons on 23 May, 2024. The House of Lords concluded their consideration of the bill on 24 May, 2024, and the bill received royal assent the same day, becoming the Finance (No. 2) Act 2024.

Since the bill remained unaltered throughout its parliamentary stages, the act’s content is identical to the original version of the bill introduced in March, 2024.

The final text of the act will be available on legislation.gov.uk.
