The government of Thailand exempted Value Added Tax (VAT) on cryptocurrency transfers and the use of digital tokens in Royal Decree No. 788, effective starting 25 September 2024.
The latest decree entends this exemption and is applicable to transfers executed within digital asset trading centres, transactions carried out by or through digital asset brokers, and transfers to digital asset traders, starting 1 January.

An earlier VAT exemption for sales was made through licensed digital exchanges under Royal Decree No. 744, which expired on 31 December 2023.
