The Swedish Government has announced a proposal to raise the property tax on wind turbines.
This announcement was made by the Swedish Government on 2 January 2025.
The legislative amendment is proposed to take effect on 1 January 2026.
Property tax is payable for properties classified as electricity production units during property taxation. For electricity production units consisting of assessment units with wind turbines, the property tax is 0.2% of the assessed value. For other electricity production units, the property tax is 0.5% of the assessed value.
The memorandum proposes raising the property tax on wind turbines from 0.2% to 0.5% of the assessed value.
