The Sri Lankan Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has issued an urgent Notice to Taxpayers, urging all citizens to update their registered profile information immediately. The notice warns that failure to comply could lead to financial penalties.
The notice requires taxpayers to keep their information up to date, including contact details such as addresses and phone numbers, as well as information about company directors and tax agents.
Non-compliance may result in a fine of up to LKR 50,000 under Section 177 of the Inland Revenue Act No. 24 of 2017.
Taxpayers can update their information in three ways: by sending an email, using the e-Services portal on the IRD website, or downloading and submitting physical forms.
Issued by the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, the notice emphasises that maintaining accurate and current profile information is the taxpayer’s responsibility.
