Under the current rules, a levy at the rate of 18% on the gross collection of a bookmaker or gaming business is payable monthly where the gross collection exceeds LKR 1 million per month. The rate was increased from 15% to 18% effective 1 January 2026.
Payments must be made at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon. The department clarified that bank draft or pay order payments realized after the due date will be considered late.
