The Slovak Republic Parliament agreed to review the government’s proposed draft bill, which seeks to amend the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Law, on 4 October 2024.

These amendments aim to address the European Commission’s concerns regarding the Slovak Republic’s legislation, ensuring the full and accurate transposition of the 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (2015/849) and the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (2018/843).

The proposed amendments to the AML Law seek to implement the Transfer of Funds Regulation (TFR) (2023/1113), which focuses on the information accompanying transfers of funds and certain crypto assets.

The proposed changes are set to take effect on 15 January 2025.

For the draft bill to become law, it must receive approval from Parliament, signed by the President, and published in the Collection of Laws.
