Serbia and Algeria have taken a major step toward strengthening bilateral ties with the signing of their first income and capital tax treaty, aimed at eliminating double taxation and enhancing cooperation, alongside a new agreement on postal and telecommunications collaboration.

The Serbian Prime Minister and Algerian Prime Minister have signed an income and capital tax treaty on 31 March 2026, marking a significant step in deepening relations between the two countries.

This marks the first agreement of its kind between the two countries and is intended to eliminate double taxation on income and property, while also helping to prevent tax evasion. The two leaders also formalised a Memorandum of Understanding on postal and telecommunications cooperation between Serbia’s Ministry of Information and Telecommunications and Algeria’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.

The treaty will enter into force after the exchange of ratification instruments.
