The Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue of Philippines has ensured that foreign donations and relief goods arriving for the victims of the Haiyan super typhoon in the Philippines will not be taxed, if their arrival is correlated with government agencies. The donors will have to coordinate their arrival with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) or private relief foundations approved by the Government.
It was revealed that businesses within the disaster areas will be able to subtract their losses from income tax, for the part that is not covered by insurance.
