The Peru government has implemented changes to amend deadlines for recording invoices in the purchase register for value added tax (VAT) purposes, and allows Peru’s tax authority (SUNAT) to generate the purchase register, published in Legislative Decree No. 1669 on 28 September 2024.
The decree modifies the Law on General Sales Tax and Selective Consumption Tax and the Tax Code.
SUNAT will create a purchase register featuring all electronic invoices issued to taxpayers (SIRE system). Taxpayers are required to confirm or correct the proposed records within the specified timeframe, including clarifying the purpose of their acquisitions.
Failure to comply will result in SUNAT generating the purchase register, which will be deemed legally valid.
