Panama’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, in a release, stated that officials from Panama and Brazil convened, on 12 August 2024, to discuss the negotiation of an income tax treaty.
Panama’s General of Revenue, Camilo Valdés Mora, and the Ambassador of Brazil in Panama, Carlos Henrique Moojen de Abreu e Silva were present during the meeting.
The tax treaty aims to establish a convention eliminating double taxation and eradicating tax evasion between the two jurisdictions.
This proposed treaty would be the first of its kind between the two nations and must be finalised, signed, and ratified before it can take effect.
