The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will raise air cargo tariffs from 2 February 2026. The increase comes after extensive reforms to tighten revenue controls and plug long-standing leakages.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced that it will implement new cargo tariffs from 2 February 2026.
The revision, approved in 2025, was delayed to allow FAAN to strengthen internal controls and close revenue leakages that had limited collections.
Under the new tariff regime, FAAN will significantly increase cargo charges across several categories. Port fees will rise from NGN 7 to NGN 20 per kilogram, while air cargo handling fees are set to jump from NGN 5 to NGN 15 per kilogram.
Charges for transhipment, courier services, and perishable goods will see the steepest increase, doubling from NGN 20 to NGN 40 per kilogram.
The changes cover import and export cargo, transshipments, and cargo vehicle surcharges, while passenger-related fees remain unaffected. FAAN noted that cargo tariffs had lost value over the past two decades, while other logistics stakeholders consistently raised fees.
