New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced that Iceland and New Zealand have concluded a second round of negotiations for an income tax treaty in February 2025.

This agreement seeks to eliminate double taxation, combat tax evasion, and prevent the avoidance of income taxes, fostering fair and transparent taxation between New Zealand and Iceland.

The first round of tax treaty negotiations took place in December 2018. If finalised, signed, and ratified, this would be the first treaty of its kind between the two countries.
