The Korea (rep.)–Kyrgyzstan tax treaty amending protocol entered into force on 5 July 2025, with key provisions applying from 1 January 2026.

The amending protocol to the Korea (Rep.) – Kyrgyzstan Income and Capital Tax Treaty (2012), signed on 3 December 2024, came into effect on 5 July 2025.

This announcement was made by the Korean Ministry of foreign affairs on 4 July 2025.

The update strengthens measures against tax avoidance and improves cooperation on information exchange. It also expands dispute resolution rights for taxpayers.

The protocol will primarily take effect from 1 January 2026 concerning withholding and other related taxes.
