As per a statement from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, representatives from Japan and Kyrgyzstan met on 5 June, 2024, to discuss enhancing bilateral collaborations, which includes talks regarding an income tax agreement.

Sanzhar Bolotov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kiyoto Tsuji,  Senior Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan,  S Bolotov, Director of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center of the Kyrgyz Republic, were present on the occasion.

Earlier officials from the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Economy and Commerce and other Kyrgyzstan representatives met with Japanese officials to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade and investment on 29 August, 2016.

If an agreement is made, it will replace the 1986 tax treaty between Japan and the former Soviet Union.
