Iran’s President signed the law ratifying the income tax treaty on 24 May 2025.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has signed the law to ratify the income tax treaty with Finland on 24 May 2025.

Signed on 7 February 2022, this is the first treaty between the two countries. It aims to eliminate double taxation on income taxes and prevent tax evasion and avoidance between Iran and Finland.

The agreement will take effect 30 days after the exchange of ratification instruments has been completed. It will take effect in Finland from 1 January of the year following its entry into force and in Iran from 21 March (the first day of Farvardin in the Iranian calendar) after the treaty enters into force in Finland.

Earlier, Iran’s Guardian Council approved the income tax treaty with Finland on 22 April 2025, following the parliament’s approval of the agreement on 8 April 2025.
