Hungary’s government has amended Government Decree 273/2007 (X. 19.) and Government Decree 19/2009 (I. 30.), which delays the e-invoicing requirement for electricity and gas supplied to nonresidential customers.

Electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) will be compulsory in Hungary for electricity and natural gas suppliers, including traders, distributors, and transmission system operators supplying electricity and natural gas to non-private entities. In addition, Hungary’s VAT law requires electronic storage for e-invoicing, which also applies to recipients.

The amendments postpone this requirement until 1 July 2025.

The requirement for e-invoicing was initially planned to go into effect on 1 January 2025.
