On 6 October 2020, Inland Revenue Department of Hong Kong has published the updated CbC reports XML schema and user guide. The Department has developed a data schema in XML which is based on the CbC XML Schema issued by the OECD. The data schema specifies the data structure and format for filing CbC Report to the Department.

In June 2019, the OECD released the CbC XML Schema (version 2.0).  From 1 February 2021, data files must be prepared using CbC Return XML Schema (version 2.0). Up to 31 January 2021, data files must be prepared using CbC Return XML Schema (version 1.0).  The following table refers to download the appropriate version of the data schema and related user guide:
