On 29 June 2023, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) published a Circular Letter announcing an extension of the deadline for “D” code profit tax returns. In the letter, IRD explains that given the real difficulties faced by businesses and practitioners in their operations, the IRD has proactively decided to move the deadline for filing 2022/23 profits tax returns with accounting date code ‘D’ to 29 August 2023 instead of the initial date of 15 August 2023.
The “D” code applies to taxpayers whose accounting period falls between December 1 and December 31. In spite of this extension, tax representatives are encouraged to file a greater number of returns well in advance of the extended deadline.
