On 11 September 2021, the honorable Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, made a speech in Thessaloniki International Fair regarding tax measures. According to his speech, corporate tax rate will be reduced from 24% to 22%. In addition, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) having maximum 250 employees (merge into a new legal entity) will be subject to 15.5% tax. Note that, sole proprietorships can partner together to set up a new legal entity and receive the same deduction. This deduction would apply for three years, given that the companies have a capital of EUR 1 million.
Again, the Minister declared some following changes:
- Special solidarity contribution exemption for 2022 is extended.
- A 13% reduced VAT rate will be applied until June 2022 for passenger transport, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages, cinema, and tourist.
- The additional 100% deduction for green, energy, and digital investments by SMEs.
