On 24 March 2020, the Finance Ministry, Christos Staikouras, announced some measures for trying to assist people in the coronavirus pandemic. The key measures are given below:

  • VAT payment is to be suspended for four months.
  • Labor Minister states that social security contribution payments by companies is to be suspended until 30 June 2020.
  • The VAT rate is to be reduced from 24% to 6% for goods related to addressing the outbreak.
  • Suspension also for four months of payment of outstanding debt obligations.
