On 16 August 2018, The German Ministry of Finance published a letter on the spontaneous exchange of CbC reports between Germany and the United States (US) concerning reporting fiscal year 2016.
This follows a joint statement between Germany and the US that was released on 10 July 2018 and states the Competent Authorities intend to spontaneously exchange CbC reports for fiscal years of MNE groups commencing on or after 1 January 2016 and before 1 January 2017. Moreover, two countries are currently negotiating an agreement by the competent authority to allow the automatic exchange of CbC reports.
