Finnish taxes on alcoholic beverages increased at the beginning of 2018 after parliamentary vote last month.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that taxes on alcoholic beverages would increase by an average of 10 percent, increasing retail prices by an average of five percent. Hiking was primarily aimed at beverages containing 15 percent or less alcohol, with beers, ciders and wines with the highest tax burden.
Tax increases are expected to increase government revenues by an additional EUR 100 million (USD 120 million).
