On 16 August 2019, the Finnish Ministry of Finance announced the proposal for the 2020 budget package.
The proposal includes following tax measures:
- A gradual increase tobacco tax by EUR 200 million over the period 2020 to 2023
- An increase in the soft drinks tax by EUR 25 million in 2020
- An increase in transport fuel taxes by approximately EUR 250 million beginning in August 2020.
- Reduction of mortgage interest by 10 percentage points in 2020, 5 percentage points in 2021 and again in 2022, and abolishing it in 2023.
- Reduction of withholding tax to 32 percent from 35 percent for a nonresident full-time employee.
