The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) and Kosovo has signed a free trade agreement (FTA) on 22 January 2025 in Davos, Switzerland.
The EFTA-Kosovo Agreement covers trade in goods, technical barriers to trade (TBT) and sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS), trade in services, intellectual property rights, trade facilitation, trade remedies, competition, trade and sustainable development, as well as legal and horizontal provisions.
Key exports between EFTA countries and Kosovo include vehicles, pharmaceuticals, plastic products, as well as iron and steel goods.
Its entry into force, however, is currently pending.
The EFTA and Kosovo launched their negotiations towards a free trade agreement in June 2022. Between August 2022 and September 2024, four negotiation rounds and several intersessional meetings were held.
