Tax Authority allowed taxpayers to pay taxes by credit card through Banco de Reservas’ digital channels starting in October 2025.
The Dominican Republic’s Tax Authority (DGII) will allow taxpayers to pay taxes using credit cards starting in October 2025. Payments can be made through the digital channels of the state-owned Banco de Reservas, removing the need to visit DGII offices.
The announcement was made by DGII Director Luis Valdez during the Second International Congress of Tax Consultants (CICI2025) in Bávaro, Punta Cana, held from 25 to 28 September 2025. Valdez also confirmed a plan to manage real estate transactions digitally starting in May 2026.
Valdez said the modernisation agenda includes strategic coordination, technological innovation, and transparency. At the congress, Márcio Ferreira Verdi, Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Centre of Tax Administrations, discussed global practices in tax administration.
The credit card payment system is part of DGII’s wider plan to digitise tax services and provide more payment options for taxpayers.
