The Dominican Republic’s Directorate General of Internal Revenue (DGII), under instructions from the Ministry of Finance, has opened a public consultation regarding a draft regulation aimed at repealing all administrative exemptions from the 0.0015% tax on the issuance of cheques and electronic transfers.

The draft law shall revoke administrative exemptions granted by the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) through agreements, certifications, communications, or any other means, concerning the non-application of the Tax on the Issuance of Checks and Electronic Transfers established in Article 382 of the Tax Code.

This affects exemptions granted to the National Association of Gasoline Retailers, Inc. (ANADEGAS), the Dominican Association of Currency Exchange Intermediaries (ADOCAMBIO), and any other person or entity currently benefiting from administrative measures that exempt them from paying the indicated tax.

The consultation will be open from 9 October to 13 December 2024.
