The Czech Republic Ministry of Finance announced the signing of an income tax treaty with Tanzania on 14 May 2025.
This is the first treaty between the two countries and aims to eliminate double taxation concerning taxes on income and prevent tax evasion and avoidance between the Czech Republic and Tanzania. It applies to the Czech income tax for individuals and legal entities, and Tanzanian income tax governed by the Income Tax Act CAP 332.
Withholding tax rates are set at 7.5% for dividends, 10% interest, 15% royalties, and 12.5% for fees for technical services (managerial, technical, or consultancy).
The agreement will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will be applicable from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
